This book is written and produced by a group
of communication design students for a publication design course. It is dedicated to the four local
crafts featured in the publication itself. They are:

(the making of) neon lights, 3D metal characters
(for signboards), flower billboards and stencil lettering. (Un)hidden aims to uncover the beauty of these local gems that we seldom pay attention to on our streets. Together, these four crafts represent the signboard-making Industry in Hong Kong.

Through interviewing the artisans and knowing more about the making of the crafts, detailed and rich stories are revealed to us and the readers.

These beautiful crafts might just be hidden in the corners of this concrete jungle. It is always up to us to unhide and appreciate their charm.

Editorial redesign

This is an editorial-redesign project based on a set of content chosen from a local magazine.

A piece of film review was extracted from the

Milk magazine for this project. A completely different layout was created using the text and images given (additional images were put in for better visual results). The task was to tackle the practicalities of layout design through the medium of magazines.

| 2015 | School Assignment

This project is all about the attention given
to details. It takes us all the way back to the basics of designing a book. From the title page, content page, the copyright page, the running text, the folios and headlines—
a sense of sophistication and clarity had to be achieved.

| 2013 | School Assignment

A paperback layout (cover excluded) designed for a classic screenplay.

Brazil :
A Screenplay

This project was my first piece of publication work printed and bound with my own hands. It is a simple cookbook exploring design possibilities with given text and images. Bilingual typesetting was also, a challenging element for this task.

A simple cookbook designed to explore
the balance between text and images.

The Art of
Cooking

A Guggenheim Museum booklet printed in 1963 was redesigned with a geometric and modern look. The information from the original booklet was also regrouped and some were visualized into suitable diagrams for an effective reading experience.
